What tests should a future mother do
28 April 2023I want to be a mother
28 April 2023If you haven’t managed to get pregnant, even though you want to, you should know that the whole process depends on a number of factors: your health, your age (and that of your partner), your fertility (and that of your partner), and the timing/frequency of intimate contact. Getting pregnant does not come easily and quickly for all couples, and infertility in women is the first question in such situations.
In this article, Barza tells you what you need to know about female fertility and what quick test solutions are at your fingertips.
Risk factors associated with female fertility problems
A healthy couple manages, in most cases, to achieve a pregnancy within a year. Fertility can vary from woman to woman, however, and is influenced by factors such as:
- mature age (35+);
- smoking;
- alcohol consumption;
- obesity;
- below average weight;
- sedentarism;
- exposure to toxic chemicals;
- lack of rest (night shifts increase the risk of infertility, possibly by affecting hormone production);
- stress;
- history of irregular or painful periods;
- repeat abortions.
Infertility in women: causes
For women, possible causes of fertility-related problems can be:
- ovulation disorders;
- hormonal disorders (polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothyroidism, low estrogen);
- sexually transmitted infections (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea), which can be diagnosed with specific rapid tests;
- other conditions (polyps or uterine fibroids);
- pelvic inflammatory disease;
- endometriosis;
- Early menopause, which can now be diagnosed quickly at home with an in vitro test;
- abdominal or pelvic surgery;
- genetic diseases;
- medical conditions associated with the absence of menstruation (poorly controlled diabetes, celiac disease, some autoimmune diseases – lupus);
- cancer and related treatments;
- partner’s reproductive problems.
Symptoms of infertility in women
The main symptom of infertility is a woman’s inability to get pregnant. A menstrual cycle that is irregular (or absent), too long (+35 days) or too short (-21 days) may indicate a lack of ovulation.
BARZA fertility test, simple and easy to do at home
The inability to conceive a child can be extremely stressful and frustrating. Today, couples who are unsuccessful in getting pregnant can be guided, simply, easily and quickly, with the help of Barza Female & Male Fertility Tests.
For women, the test determines the level of FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) in just a few minutes, based on urine, to assess ovarian function. The accuracy of the results obtained is greater than 98%.
How to treat infertility
Infertility is a treatable disease in over 95% of cases. It is a complex disorder and can require a long-term commitment (financially, physically and psychologically).
There are several ways to get pregnant, depending on the cause of infertility and the age of the future mother. Treatments are designed to restore fertility by:
- medication (works like natural hormones and triggers ovulation);
- surgery (to correct problems with the anatomy of the uterus/tube);
- intrauterine insemination (millions of healthy sperm are placed in the uterus during ovulation);
- in vitro fertilisation (IVF involves retrieving mature eggs, fertilising them with sperm in a laboratory dish, then transferring the embryos to the uterus after fertilisation).
